Chirp data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in September of in Port Valdez, Alaska. Data were collected aboard the USGS R/V Alaskan Gyre during field activity GGA, using an EdgeTech SBi sub-bottom profiler. Sub-bottom acoustic penetration spans several tens of meters and is variable by location.

Sediments are also sampled at the Port Valdez sites. Results are summarized in a year-end report. A reduced sampling frequency for LTEMP began in FY, as provided for in a new sampling plan accepted by the Board at its January meeting.

It requires one sampling session per year at the two Port Valdez sites and the Knowles Head site. The case studies presented in Part 2 of this book describe the relative naturalness of the studied habitats, that is, the extent to which a habitat or environment has been modified from its natural state by human activities and asked to list the threats they believed posed the most immediate risk to the habitats they studied, more authors nominated fishing, followed by pollution Cited by: 5.
